I'll cut to the chase, this movie is awesome.

For those of you not in the know, Serenity is based of a TV series called Firefly. Serenity is the name of the spaceship, the spaceship is of type: firefly. Makes sense? Also, Firefly/Serenity was created by Joss Wheadon, the same guy who came up with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

Like Joss's other projects Serentiy sounds really stupid but it's freakin' great. Basically it's a western in space. Yep. Guys walk around with 6 shooters and leather jackets, drink in saloons, stuff like that. But they travel from planet to planet in spaceships. They also talk a might peculiar, but that's just fine like.

Anyhoo… Firefly was cancelled after the first season. No great shocker when you put it on at 9:00pm on a Friday. Their target demographic is probably out and about. Hell I'm even out on the occasional Friday. But then again their bullseye target demographic are at home in their moms basement watching TV. Gorram network executives. Probably wear blue gloves…

Back to the movie.

The movie picks up where the series ended. Good introduction of the characters for the new fans, nothing repetitious for the old ones. Good plot development, good characters, good action.

My only real complaint (that won't be a spoiler) is Vera never made an appearance and shot anybody.

The long of the short of it is, see the movie, buy the series (on sale at Futureshop I hear), see the movie again.

Best gorram movie of the summer. Bring back Firefly!
